Inspired By Taste: Cafe Colombia, private luxury escape

Colombia is one of the few countries on the planet that has everything under one enormous sky, and on this unforgettable escape you’ll get to sample it all in luxurious style.

Beginning in the vibrant, cultural capital, Bogotá, situated on a high plateau in the snow-peaked Andes Mountains, you’ll make your way to the colonial town of Villa de Leyva surrounded by gorgeous Andean countryside. There will be days when you wake up and smell the beans roasting at a plantation in the fertile Coffee Region, before losing yourself in the Spanish colonial backstreets of Cartagena. Finally, you’ll emerge from the lush green foothills of the Sierra Nevada, for a relaxing three days on the secluded Caribbean beaches of Tayrona National Park.

This incredible 12-night, 13-day private luxury escape can be taken throughout the year.

The Inside Word

We Love...

The fact that Colombia is bursting back onto the tourism radar. After all, there aren’t many countries that can offer beaches, rainforest and culture and Spanish colonial history in one trip.

Learn Something New...

Find out, first hand, how they grow the best coffee on the planet in the fertile Coffee Triangle.

Experience a Taste of...

Hot chocolate, arepa (unleavened bread) and cheese or delicious pastries. This is breakfast, Colombian style. Also try a Tamale, made from corn-based dough, steamed or wrapped in a leaf and boiled, with tasty ingredients like pork, chicken, vegetables or cheese. Tamales pre-dated the arrival of the Spanish Conquistadors, don’t you know.

Jaw-dropping Moment...

The walled city and fortress at Colonial Cartagena. Even up against other UNESCO World Heritage sites, this place seriously rates.

When to Escape

Colombia experiences two seasons, the “dry” season or summer and the “rainy” season or winter. The length of the seasons and the amount of rain vary according to the regions.

The dry season for this escape runs from December to March.

Altitude changes also generate differences in temperature between day and night. As the altitude increases, so does the difference in climate. There are no variations in the lowlands though, where days and nights are warm.

''I'd expected stunning scenery and sleepy colonial towns, but the biggest and most pleasant surprise was the warmth and friendliness of the people. The blend of Africans, Indians and Hispanics has produced a mix of beautiful people, always joyful and generous.''
