A Luxury Escape to the Western Cape and Garden Route of South Africa.

It’s just you, the open road and some of South Africa’s most spectacular scenery, on this 13-day self-drive journey of discovery.

Beautiful sandy beaches, fine wine, lakes, mountains and adventure. This incredible trip has got it all. And it begins in the most exciting city on the African continent, Cape Town.

Tucked away in a natural bowl between the Atlantic Ocean and the iconic Table Mountain, it’s home to some stunning hotels, fabulous restaurants, great shopping and historical sights.

You’ll quickly find that there’s much more to Africa than the ‘Big Five’. Like the Garden Route, for example, with its stunning coastline, wonderful wines, hiking, mountain biking and a lot more. And best of all, you’ll be free to explore it all at your own, relaxed pace.

The Inside Word

We Love...

The coastal village of Hermanus. Just two-and-a-half hours’ drive from Cape Town, it’s got gorgeous beaches, cute little boutiques, and happens to be the best place on the planet for watching whales from the land.

Learn Something New...

Not only will you get to see the ‘Big Five’ – lion, buffalo, elephant, rhino and leopard – but there will be expert guides on hand at Kwandwe Private Game Reserve to give you all the fascinating facts about everything you’re seeing. Meanwhile, on the coast, the waters are teeming with exotic marine life.

Experience a Taste of…

Delicious South African cuisine! It’s a mouthwatering mixture of different influences including local African, European, Indian and Malay. Cape Town has a huge range of excellent restaurants, offering all types of exciting fusion food from fresh Mediterranean to exotic Asian spices and as you cruise along the Garden Route you’ll find many more eateries, serving freshly caught seafood and fine South African vino.

Jaw-dropping Moment...

Seeing your first southern right whale at Walker Bay, Hermanus. They come here to calf every year.
